I’m still testing out Windows Live Writer myself & so far enjoying it, but have a few issues I’ve yet to resolve:
1) Easy tags. There are some tag plug-ins for WLW, but they appear to involve editing a WordPress file & since I have 5 blog accounts (& counting), I’m putting this off until I’m sure I’m going to continue using WLW.
2) Image uploading. The one feature that is lacking from most blog editors is the ability to upload easily from the web. If I see an article that I want to comment on or a picture, I don’t want to hotlink the picture & serve it from the original source’s site when it appears on my blog. Not cool. If I’m going to blog about your picture, the least I can do is serve it up using my own bandwidth right? And since I have no control over other sites, I hate seeing broken image links because the domain name expires or they move to a new blog software & all the links change. Lame.
WLW has the lovely feature of Insert > Image from URL. Beautiful! I set up my FTP details under each Weblog account & when I publish a post it is supposed to upload the images via FTP. And it did for my first few tries, but it appears to have stopped working & I can’t figure out why. It doesn’t give an error, but on at least 2 of my blogs the images are not being FTPed. The blog entry is posted with a hotlinked image from the original source, sure to annoy said source.
While I’m figuring this out, check out tones’ weblog» for a more detailed review.
